UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA full description

Universal Studios Florida is one of the three parks that make up UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT.

  • Universal Studios Florida
  • Island of Adventure
  • Volcano Bay
  • City Walk

These are the 4 areas that make up this Resort.

The first two are actual theme parks, very different from the Hollywood Studios, where real movie sets are also present.

Volcano Bay is a water park with incredible theming.

City Walk is a commercial area somewhat comparable to Disney Springs, but much smaller and focused heavily on evening entertainment and dining.

Both Universal Studios Florida and Island of Adventure feature areas dedicated to Harry Potter, connected to each other by the Hogwarts Express.

I’ve already gone into detail about these two areas in this article.

Park Areas

Like every theme park, Universal Studios Florida is divided into themed areas:

  • Production Central
  • New York
  • San Francisco
  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley
  • World Expo
  • Springfield: Home of the Simpsons
  • Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone
  • Hollywood

To make sure you don’t miss anything from my description, download the same park map shown in the video.

Production Central

Production Central is the first area you’ll encounter once you pass through the park gates. It’s also the land with the highest concentration of attractions.

  • Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
  • Shrek 4-D
  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
  • TRANSFORMERS

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is a multisensory theater that turns you into a Minion, taking you on a crazy adventure full of danger.

Tip: don’t ride it at the beginning or end of the day.

Shrek 4-D is also a multisensory theater experience with a story that fits perfectly between the first and second movies of the saga. A quick rewatch of the first film is recommended for more fun.

Tip: don’t ride it at the beginning or end of the day.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is the only coaster in this park.

It may look like just another coaster from the outside, but blasting your favorite song through your headphones while tackling a completely vertical first hill followed by a steep drop? Priceless!

Tip: use the single rider line.

TRANSFORMERS – calling this ride just a “theater” or “simulator” is an understatement. Every one of your senses will be triggered to make you feel like you’re truly inside the eternal battle between Autobots and Decepticons.

New York

This area features two attractions and one of the park’s most iconic shows.

  • Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon
  • Revenge of the Mummy
  • The Blues Brothers® Show

Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon is the latest attraction to open at Universal Studios Florida, where you’ll get a front-row seat for a wild ride through the streets of New York with Jimmy Fallon.

Revenge of the Mummy changed the game when it opened. Coaster, dark ride, show, incredible set design – all in one attraction!

The Blues Brothers® Show is possibly the most imitated street show in the world. The performers are so good, it feels like you’re actually in the movie.

San Francisco

The only attraction here is Fast & Furious – Supercharged, the most over-the-top ride I’ve ever been on – I even added the queue song to my Spotify playlist, which you can find here.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley

I won’t go into detail about this incredibly immersive land – if you want to know more, check out my dedicated article/video.

World Expo

Here you’ll find an immersive “shoot-’em-up” style attraction. MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack is based on the first film in the Men in Black saga, and you’ll need to prove your skills in a New York overrun by aliens.

Tip: use the single rider line.

Springfield: Home of the Simpsons

This land is so well detailed that you’ll feel like you’re really walking the streets of Springfield—stopping by MOE’s for a beer or grabbing a burger at Krusty Burger.

The main attraction is The Simpsons Ride, where you’ll be thrown into a story set in Krustyland, the most bizarre theme park ever seen!

Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone

This is the only land at Universal Studios Florida designed specifically for younger guests. There are a couple of water play areas, a Woody Woodpecker-themed family coaster, but the historic gem here is E.T. Adventure. It features one of the most beautiful queue lines I’ve ever experienced.

Hollywood

This land feels more like a glamorous street dedicated to movie stardom, with restaurants and shops selling authentic vintage memorabilia.

There are two shows in this area:

  • Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-up Show
  • The Bourne Stuntacular

The first is a classic show that humorously reveals the horror effects used in movies.

But The Bourne Stuntacular is truly something else! In this theater, you’ll witness the stunts of one of cinema’s most famous spies – you’ll barely be able to tell what’s real and what’s not.

Dining

As mentioned, dining at Universal Studios isn’t always a full-blown experience like it often is at Walt Disney World, but there are a few spots worth trying.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you can’t miss the Leaky Cauldron – known to us as the Paiolo Magico.

Like the rest of Diagon Alley, the attention to detail here is obsessive, and both the variety and quality of the food meet expectations.

If you’re more of a Simpsons fan, I recommend the Fast Food Boulevard – here you’ll find all of Springfield’s most famous eateries.

You can grab a beer at MOE’s, treat yourself to a Krusty Burger, or taste the iconic giant pink donut.

In Conclusion

Universal Studios Florida definitely deserves a full day of your visit.

At first glance it may seem a bit light on attractions, but that’s not the case.

Beyond everything I’ve described, there are three shows and the unmissable evening parade – not to mention the entire Harry Potter area, which alone is worth the price of admission.
