Movie Park Germany is located about an hour’s drive from Cologne, in the northwest of Germany. Throughout its history, the park has changed ownership several times, but the two most important milestones are:
- 1994 – Warner Bros acquires the park and renames it “Warner Bros. Movie World Germany”, giving it a lasting Hollywood theme
- 2010 – Parques Reunidos, the same group that owns Mirabilandia, takes over the park and integrates all the IPs owned by the company
It is the only cinema-themed park in Germany, and this is my TOP 7 list of its best attractions.
If after reading my review and checking out this TOP 7 you’re interested in visiting, I recommend buying your tickets online to save time at the entrance and dive straight into the park’s magical movie atmosphere.
#7 The Bandit
The Bandit is by far the worst wooden coaster I’ve ever ridden!
The seats are stiff, every vibration will rattle through your body, and the layout isn’t even as fun as it looks from the outside. But only if you survive it can you truly say you never want to ride it again 😅
#6 The Lost Temple
The Lost Temple is an immersive tunnel experience, similar to Jurassic War at CineCittà World. What stands out here is the incredibly immersive and well-themed queue.
Unfortunately, the 3D quality feels a bit outdated by today’s standards.
#5 Time Riders
Time Riders is a simulator in the style of Star Tours, found in many Disney parks around the world. However, Movie Park Germany sets itself apart with a beautifully detailed queue and two pre-shows.
The only downside is that everything is in German, so some of the story gets lost.
#4 Area 51
Area 51 is an indoor water ride—get ready, because you’re unlikely to come out dry.
Between the two drops, there’s a fully themed section with immersive effects and optical illusions that are seriously cool.
#3 Star Trek: Operation Enterprise
This launched coaster by Mack Rides, Star Trek: Operation Enterprise, stands out for its layout—and fans of the saga will definitely say “wow” at some of the queue details.
#2 Movie Park Studio Tour
Movie Park Studio Tour is an indoor multi-dimensional coaster. With its sets and special effects, it takes you on a journey through Hollywood movie studios.
#1 Van Helsing’s Factory
Van Helsing’s Factory is definitely the best indoor coaster at Movie Park Germany.
It’s not overly intense, but the theming, queue, and ride layout perfectly match what you’d expect from a story like this.
