The PUY du FOU, literally “The Fool’s Peak”, has a rather peculiar origin story: it began in 1978 as a musical show dedicated to the history of the local region, making use of existing ruins. Eleven years later, it evolved into a theme park with historical themes.
No name could be more fitting, as this tourist destination—which receives over 2,000,000 visitors a year—is quite literally in the middle of nowhere.
This is my TOP 7 of the best shows, but if you want to know more about this magnificent park, I recommend taking a look at my full review.
#7 Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde
Immerse yourself in the magical world of the Arthurian legend!
At the foot of the ramparts of Font-Rognou, Merlin puts young Arthur’s courage to the test. After resisting Excalibur’s spell, our hero discovers the wonders of the enchanted lake and the Lady of the Lake, witnessing the surprising return of the Knights of the Round Table.
Rediscover the famous legend and let yourself be swept away by this chivalric ballet.
#6 Les Vikings
Possibly the most Instagrammed show at PUY du FOU.
Battles, fire, burning ships, vessels emerging from the water—these are just some of the highlights in this 26-minute show.
#5 Les Amoureux de Verdun
This is one of PUY du FOU’s four immersive experiences.
In this walkthrough show, you’ll be transported to World War I and get a taste of the daily life soldiers faced in the trenches.
#4 Le Dernier Panache
This show is hard to explain—just know that the theater is 360 degrees and the seating area rotates. That alone makes it unmissable.
#3 Les Noces de Feu
Every evening, when the sun sets, gentle melodies rise from the lake, bringing back memories of the most romantic of weddings.
After meeting in the “Les Orgues de Feu” show, the violinist muse and the virtuoso pianist reunite to celebrate their eternal love through the magic of water and fire.
You’ll witness a stunning wedding as dancers and massive set pieces emerge from the depths of the lake like a mirage, coming to life to fulfill the young couple’s dream and throw them an unforgettable celebration.
#2 Le Signe du Triomphe
Held in a massive arena reminiscent of the Colosseum, this show recreates the type of entertainment Roman emperors offered their people 2,000 years ago.
If possible, arrive at least 20–30 minutes early, because even though the stands are huge, they fill up quickly.
#1 Le Mime et L’Étoile
Premiering this year, this show is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
The storytelling, combined with the cutting-edge technology used to tell it, will make you fall in love with the characters.
On the official website, the show’s description reads:
It’s 1914, and visitors are invited to silently witness the filming of a brand-new movie featuring Garance, a rising star of the silver screen, and Mimoza, a dreamy young mime. On set, director Gérard Bideau hopes to fulfill his dream… He believes that only true love can bring color and sound to silent black-and-white cinema.
