Inaugurated on April 30, 1989, Parc Astérix was the first major theme park in Paris, and it was love at first sight for the French.
In its first year, it welcomed 1,340,000 visitors, growing steadily to reach a record of 2,600,000 in 2022. But I believe this record might be broken in 2023 thanks to the major new attraction opened this year.
This is my TOP 7 of the best attractions, but if you want to learn more about the park, I recommend checking out my full review.
#7 LA TRACE DU HOURRA
Closely related to a ride found at Europa Park, this attraction is truly unique.
Boarding a train that has NO tracks but simply a large slide is quite unusual—especially considering the initial height and the length of the entire track.
#6 GOUDURIX
This area surrounds the main lake at Parc Astérix and features 6 fairly calm attractions—except one!
Goudurix held the record for the coaster with the most inversions in Europe (7 in total) for many years. Even though it no longer holds the title, it’s still known today for its world-record-breaking vibrations 😅
#5 PÉGASE EXPRESS
Boarding from Montparnassos station in the Greek zone of the Park, Pégase Express takes you roaring through the mythical cities of Olympia, Lutetia, and Alexandria to the temple of the dangerous Medusa. Don’t turn to stone! At the slightest sign of danger, this one-of-a-kind train in Europe will shift into reverse.
#4 OZIRIS
Soar 40 meters in the air on these inverted roller coasters as you get catapulted through loops, turns, and corkscrews in the heart of the park. The sky probably won’t fall on your head—but you might see a few stars!
#3 ROMUS ET RAPIDUS
Feel like taking a trip? Next stop: Rome! Just make sure you’re ready to rock and roll on your raft. The Gauls have sabotaged this scenic cruise, which will soon turn into a drenching ride for brave souls. Guaranteed laughs and splashes!
#2 TONNERRE 2 ZEUS
Tonnerre de Zeus returns in a brand-new version: Tonnerre 2 Zeus. Already experienced the thrills? Wait until you see what Thunder 2 Zeus has in store for you!
Expect: a 90° banked hill, high-speed turns, fourteen airtime moments (when speed lifts riders off their seats), a tunnel with special lighting effects, and even backward-facing cars for an upside-down ride experience.
#1 TOUTATIS
Hop on a one-of-a-kind ride. With its 110 km/h top speed and 51-meter height, “Toutatis” is the fastest ride in France! And because the Gallic god goes big, it also holds the world record for most airtimes on a steel roller coaster: 23 times! Hold on tight to your helmets!
