Opened on May 1, 1995, in the same location that Disney originally considered for the construction of EuroDisney, PortAventura Park was an immediate success with the public.

Designed, planned, and built in close collaboration between local authorities and Anheuser-Busch—which at the time owned the Busch Gardens and SeaWorld chains—the park quickly became a reference point for fans of large American-style theme parks.

With its impressive theming, massive roller coasters, and carefully planned layout, PortAventura Park transports guests to some of the most exotic locations in the world.

But if you’re here to discover the seven best attractions at PortAventura, you’re in the right place!

#7 Silver River Flume

Silver River Flume is a classic log flume ride, but unlike Gardaland’s Colorado
Boat, this attraction features three longer and steeper drops, guaranteeing a refreshing splash.
Interestingly, the queue area is more detailed than the ride itself, which lacks theming.

#6 Gran Canyon Rapids

Gran Canyon Rapids might seem like a typical river rapids ride, but its
impressive theming and the turbulent water movement make you feel like you’re actually rafting down the
Colorado River. Gran Canyon Rapids PortAventura Park

#5 Furius Baco

Furius Baco is the highlight attraction of this area and, for many years, it was also
one of PortAventura Park’s biggest thrills.
With an acceleration from 0 to 135 km/h in just 3 seconds, it held the title of Europe’s fastest coaster from 2007 until
2017.

The ride’s unique theming is also worth noting. The outdoor queue winds through a real vineyard, while the indoor
section takes guests through a winery filled with barrels and machinery.

#4 Dragon Khan

Standing 45 meters tall, featuring 8 inversions, and reaching speeds of 110 km/h,
Dragon Khan is designed to test your courage! Dragon Khan

#3 Hurakan Condor

Hurakan Condor, at 100 meters tall, is one of the tallest free-fall towers in
Europe.
Once you reach the top, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking view, not only of the park but of the surrounding region.
But don’t relax just yet—there’s a surprise waiting before you drop!

#2 Uncharted: El Enigma de Penitence

Uncharted: El Enigma de Penitence is PortAventura Park’s newest
attraction, inaugurated in 2023, based on the Uncharted video game and film series by Sony.
It’s an indoor coaster featuring sharp turns, projections, and special effects. However, some visitors feel that the
queue area is more immersive than the ride itself.

A missed opportunity?

#1 Shambhala

If Dragon Khan’s stats didn’t impress you, let’s take a look at Shambhala, which was the
tallest hyper coaster in Europe when it opened in 2012:

  • Height: 76 meters
  • Maximum speed: 134 km/h
  • Track length: 1,650 meters

With these numbers, you’ll truly feel like you’re on top of Tibet!
