The Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes place from mid-August to the end of October and is held 2 to 4 times a week depending on the period.
On these days, the park closes at 6:00 PM, and starting from 7:00 PM only guests with the special event wristband are allowed to stay inside.
This means the classic and beloved evening show Happily Ever After will NOT be performed.
That’s why many people choose to visit other Disney parks on these days, making Magic Kingdom much less crowded.
Since these are special evenings, here are some key details to help you make the most of it:
Why attend?
Typically, Halloween is filled with spooky horror themes — but NOT at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, where everything is fun, light-hearted, and flooded with tons of candy.
In short, joy is the main theme here.
What kind of ticket do you need?
The first thing you should know is that to attend this event you MUST purchase a separate ticket, available exclusively on the official park website at this LINK.
This ticket allows you to enter the park starting at 4:00 PM, and I highly recommend taking advantage of those three extra hours before the party begins.
It’s the perfect time to browse shops, grab something to eat, or meet your favorite characters.
How to plan your evening?
Be sure to head as early as possible to the Buzz Lightyear attraction in Tomorrowland to get your event wristband — this will allow you to stay in the park after 6:00 PM, when Cast Members begin escorting out daytime guests.
For this night, forget my usual tips you’ll find HERE and follow these instead:
- As soon as you enter, grab the event guide — it lists all the trick-or-treat locations where you can load up on candy
- Check which attractions are decked out for the event — this year it was Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain, Monsters Inc. and Haunted Mansion. I did them all and had no regrets!
- There are lots of exclusive photo spots scattered around the park — not all of them are on the map, so it’s up to you to find them for the wildest pics
- If you want to meet the Halloween characters, line up as early as possible — queues build up fast after 7:00 PM
- If you prefer rides, I recommend Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — usually very crowded, but not on these nights
- There are two castle shows: *Hocus Pocus* and *Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular*. The first runs twice during the night, so plan when to catch it
- The *Boo to You* parade is unmissable — I recommend watching it either from the central plaza or on Main Street
Is it worth it?
Yes!
I can honestly say it’s the only Halloween night where I truly had fun!
One last thing:
I just wore a T-shirt made for the occasion, but any kind of outfit — even ones we’d associate more with Carnival than Halloween — is welcome, as long as you DON’T wear a mask that covers your face, as it’s not allowed in the park.
Other than that, let your imagination run wild.
What would you dress up as to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party?
