The Best Attractions at SIX FLAGS Magic Mountain

SIX FLAGS Magic Mountain is a large California theme park located 40 km from Los Angeles.

Over the years, it has become famous for its massive coasters—each one taller and faster than the last.

In this article, I’ll share my personal ranking of the best attractions I personally experienced during my visit.

If you’re interested in learning more about this park, I recommend checking out my full review.

My TOP 7

It’s not easy to rank the best attractions in the park—with 20 roller coasters, it’s physically impossible to ride them all in a single day. And not just for logistical reasons, but due to the intense G-forces each one unleashes.

#7 VIPER

Since its construction, Viper has been one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world. Just take a look at the number and variety of loops to be left speechless.

An enormous red-and-white steel structure, this metal serpent climbs up to 57 meters before plunging at speeds of up to 112 km/h.

#6 APOCALYPSE

Enter the bunker and get ready to launch into the frontlines of an incredibly fast-paced sci-fi battle. The future war has turned the world into a barren wasteland—and you’re living the aftermath. Apocalypse is a fully wooden coaster that races through this ominous desert on a high-speed track.

You’ve passed through security checkpoints and high-tech monitors explaining your mission. Now, board the industrial-style cars and prepare to dodge explosive debris and tackle some of the wildest drops and sharpest turns the future has to offer—along its 800 meters of all-wood, all-muscle track.

You won’t believe how fast this wooden brute goes as it whips through reckless twists and fog-filled tunnels—right on time for total chaos. But hey, it’s all in a day’s work for a soldier of the future.

#5 Twisted Colossus

Wood meets steel as the iconic “woodie” returns as the new Twisted Colossus—the longest and most innovative hybrid coaster in the world. Still in its landmark position along the perimeter of Six Flags Magic Mountain and nestled within the tracks of the behemoth coaster Goliath, Twisted Colossus remains the most recognizable coaster monument for millions passing through the park every year… but now with a thrilling twist.

Integrated into the beautiful cross-hatching of white wood are twisting rails, steep banks, relentless rolls, and spirals. Enjoy the charm and excitement of a traditional wooden coaster while facing your fears on the latest in cutting-edge coaster tech. Twisted Colossus truly is the best of both worlds—a modern marvel making roller coaster history!

#4 West Coast Racers

Get ready for West Coast Racers, the world’s first single-track quadruple-launch racing coaster!

Unlike traditional coasters, this one-of-a-kind racing coaster features two side-by-side tracks with four individual high-speed launches.

Key features:

  • Four record-breaking magnetic launches, including a side-by-side race start and mid-race boost
  • Four total inversions
  • 14 track crossovers and a “high five” moment where riders almost touch hands with the opposing train—30 total train interactions (15 per lap)
  • Speeds up to 89 km/h

#3 Full Throttle

Here it is—the latest in a long line of world records set at Six Flags Magic Mountain: Full Throttle.

The tallest and fastest looping coaster on the planet.

You’ll loop 49 meters high—a feat no one else in the world has attempted. And looping once just isn’t enough—you’ll tackle it twice.

Full Throttle features not one but three separate launches. From a complete stop, you’ll rocket to 112 km/h like it’s nothing.

#2 SUPERMAN: Escape from Krypton

SUPERMAN’s home planet Krypton is beautiful—but brutal. Watch out for the glowing green kryptonite walls! You and 13 fellow heroes must escape, packed into a sleek car that blasts you off from this icy rock.

Buckle up, take a deep breath, and prepare for takeoff. You’ll go from 0 to 161 km/h in just seven seconds.

You’ll launch like SUPERMAN himself, flying straight up a 90-degree track, reaching an astounding height of 127 meters! Hold on tight—because once vertical, you’ll experience 6.5 seconds of weightlessness. But don’t get too comfortable—what goes up must come down. You’ll plummet down the tower track almost instantly at 150 km/h—faster than a speeding bullet. This kind of insane acceleration is only possible thanks to a cutting-edge electromagnetic motor specially designed for SUPERMAN: Escape from Krypton.

#1 THE RIDDLER’s Revenge

You’ll have to stand up to a villain like THE RIDDLER—and that’s exactly what this record-breaking stand-up coaster is all about. You’ll be standing—not sitting—as you face this maniac on the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest stand-up coaster. And that’s not all—it also has the world’s largest loop and the most inversion action for any stand-up ride.

This massive green machine is anything but a walk in the park—even for the bravest crime-fighters. Hopefully, you like being upside-down, because you’ll face loop after loop, inversion after inversion, as you soar 57 meters into the sky. Just to keep you guessing, you’ll whip through a couple of corkscrews at 105 km/h on this twisty, totally unpredictable track—all while pulling a massive 4.2
